Data we collect and why

Personal data is collected at registration, during KYC verification, and through normal use of the platform. The table below lists the main data categories, the reason each is collected, and how long it is retained.

How data is shared and protected

Personal data is not sold to third parties. It is shared only in the following cases: with payment processors (M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, Visa, Mastercard) to complete transactions; with KYC verification providers to confirm identity documents; with Tanzanian regulatory authorities if required by law; and with fraud prevention services to protect accounts from unauthorized access.

Data is stored on servers protected by SSL encryption, access controls, and regular security audits. Passwords are stored as salted hashes — plain-text passwords are never retained. Payment details are handled by PCI DSS-compliant processors and are not stored on Betin Tanzania servers directly.

Your rights and how to use them

You have the right to request a copy of all personal data held about you, ask for corrections to inaccurate records, request deletion of data where no legal retention obligation applies, and withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email support@betin-tanzania.com with your registered phone number and a description of your request. Requests are processed within 30 days. If your account is under active investigation or a regulatory hold, data deletion requests may be deferred until the investigation concludes.

Cookies are used to maintain login sessions and track basic site analytics. You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings without affecting core account functionality. Disabling all cookies will log you out on each visit.
